Hi, Well If I can get off work Friday I'll go to the Lan Party in Greenville, NC. If I can't get off I'll be there Saturday. (off Saturday anyway).

I ain't bringing any console. I'll be bringing a PC. and will have CSS, TF2, COD4, Modern Warfare 2, Far Cry 1 & 2

So how does the LAN work? I saw someone mention something about winning and prizes. Do you have to have your own team or are you paired with others randomly? Can you play one game, but not another, or do the games rotate and each person has to have the game? Is there competitive play and also casual play going on at the same time? Is there an age range? Sorry for all the questions but have never been to a LAN event before.

So how does the LAN work?

Well what w do is sit around and play games for the 24 hours that we are at the LAN. We have tournaments every other hour (Not really but it depends on how the schedule is.)

Two things here. 1. When you pay you automatically get a ticket which enters you into a prize drawing that we do every other hour. Or when ever the LAN admins feel like doing it. Sometimes we have big prizes where if you have already won something small you are automatically put back in.

2. There are tournaments that offer prize money. You don't technically have to have your own team but playing with people you know is much better. Or you can just pair up with people at the LAN.

Can you play one game, but not another, or do the games rotate and each person has to have the game?

You can play whatever you want whenever you want. Example. If everyone at the lan has TF2 and you and me don't but we have CSS then others can play TF2 and we can play CSS together or you can play it by yourself. But playing with others is always fun.

Or people can join us in CSS. Really is doesn't matter.

Is there competitive play and also casual play going on at the same time?

Yes to both.

Is there an age range?

Don't totally take my word on this but if your under 16 (I think. Or 18) you have to have the disclaimer form signed by a parent. But also on the form it say anyone under 13 not allowed. But I think that is if you don't have a form signed.(Or maybe I am wrong.) But if you forget the form they always have extra copies there for you.

Age - 18 or under requires a signed disclaimer form by a parent / guardian. They don't have to come, just have the form signed. Everyone regardless of age has to sign one. Under 13 is usually not permitted unless it has been discussed with the staff.
